When To Consider Using An Auto Paint Shop

Since your vehicle cost is usually the second largest bill you have outside of your mortgage, it is important to maintain and care for it in the best way. You may find that at some point in your life, your vehicle may need to be taken to an auto paint shop for repair. Most of use may never use this service so it is important to become aware of a few important things before we jump in.

Anytime you have your vehicle worked on, it should be by professionals. A fly by night mechanic is not a good idea if you want safe, quality work. Your vehicle should never be driven if it has damage of any kind. This is not safe for you and certainly not safe for the other drivers on the road. It is not what you can see that is the problem but the damages underneath the paint that are.

It is common for an auto paint shop to be used because of an accident. This may mean dealing with an insurance company at some point. Your insurance company will want you to have your car appraised by their claim representative before your vehicle is fixed. This is completely normal. They will be able to give you an estimate on how much damage has been done. Once the vehicle is taken to an auto paint shop, they will be able to look at the damage in depth and give a more thorough amount.

When getting an estimate on your vehicle damages, do not settle for only one estimate. Take your vehicle to more than one auto paint shop and get the best price possible. If your insurance company tells you this is not possible or that you need to use the shop they choose, tell them that this is against the law and then do it anyway. You need the piece of mind to know your vehicle is being fixed correctly and by trained technicians. Be aware that you will receive different amounts for the damages your vehicle has. A low estimate does not always mean a better deal. It could be that they have omitted some charges to be added at a later date. Ask them about what is included in the estimate and if this is all that will be needed to fix your car.

It is best to find an auto paint shop using the uni-body system. This means that your vehicle will receive a better paint job. If the shop employs only certified technicians, this is a good thing. You know your vehicle is being trusted to certified individuals and not to some shade tree painter. The parts used to replace the damaged ones on your vehicle need to be OEM replacement items. If there is a new part available for your damaged ones pay the extra. Used parts are not bad but the newer ones will last longer and are stronger.

Finally, make sure the auto repair shop you choose offers you money back guarantee or warranty on their work. If they can not guarantee the work being done then go to an auto paint shop that can.
